Empowering parishioners to be actively involved in parish life.

Joyful, active participation is empowering parishioners to be actively involved in parish life. If participation matters, we build people up- no one should feel used, under-supported, or unseen.

Principles

Be clear with information about faith formation and service

Offer a personal invitation and a clear next step

Equip and accompany people to joyfully serve

Principles in Action

We provide clear information and explanation for ‘what to do next’ in the journeys of formation and service.

We personally invite and accompany people rather than relying only on announcements.

We lead people in discovering their gifts/charisms and guide them to ministries.

We support ministry disciples (volunteers) by providing formation, coaching and clear expectations.

We actively encourage sharing of joyful/meaningful stories of transformation and fruit—so people see the impact of serving.

We check in and follow up so people feel supported, not forgotten.

Reflection

  • What gifts has God given me?
  • Where do I experience joy when serving others?
  • Have I ever been personally invited to serve? What difference did that invitation make?
  • How can we make serving feel more like a joyful response to God’s call and less like filling a vacancy?
  • Are we doing enough to support the people who already serve?

Think of someone you believe has a gift that could bless our parish. Don’t just think about inviting them. Invite them.
