Everyone feels seen, valued, and connected.

Intentional belonging means making sure people don’t just attend Holy Family—they know they are truly seen, welcomed, and needed. We want everyone to have a place where they can belong and build meaningful relationships.

Principles

Notice people and acknowledge them with joy and compassion

Take shared responsibility for welcoming and hospitality

Help bridge connections to areas of interest (and follow up)

Principles in Action

We make eye contact, smile, and greet people before and after gatherings.

We introduce ourselves rather than waiting to be introduced. •

We notice who is alone and intentionally invite them.

We learn and use names whenever possible.

We assume newcomers may feel uncertain and proactively offer help.

We avoid “closed circles” in conversation when others are nearby.

We follow up personally when someone expresses interest or concern.

Reflection

When have you felt like you truly belonged somewhere?

What made you feel that way?

Who might feel invisible in our parish?

Do we tend to stay within our familiar circles?

What would change if every parishioner took responsibility for hospitality?

This Sunday, notice someone you don’t know.

Smile.

Introduce yourself.

Learn their name.

And make room.
