The term ‘Children’s Liturgy of the Word’ refers to the practice of children leaving the Sunday assembly during the Liturgy of the Word and gathering elsewhere to celebrate a separate Liturgy of the Word that is more appropriate to their level of understanding.
Children’s Liturgy is about breaking open the Word of God for little people in ways that they can understand more fully. The recommended age for Children’s Liturgy is 4 to 7 years of age. Younger children may also attend but MUST be accompanied by an adult not a sibling. Children’s Liturgy is such a blessing not just for the children but for leaders who loves the Catholic Church and want to share God’s Word with these precious little ones.
